Strong $ nibbles Transcon's 3rd Q profit

Third quarter results for Transcontinental Inc. have been released; the printer, magazine and media company (TSX:TCL.B) saw third-quarter profit fall from $27.5 million last year at this time to $24.7 million, mostly blamed by management on the impact of a strong Canadian dollar. According to the company, revenue totalled $511.8 million, down $18 million or three per cent from $529.8 million in the same quarter a year ago. Excluding the foreign-exchange effect, revenues were about the same as in 2005, the company said.
