Rick Boychuk, former CanGeo editor, now handles communications for NDP's Jack Layton
Rick Boychuk, who recently resigned as editor-in-chief of Canadian Geographic magazine, is becoming director of communications to the New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton, effective June 8. He replaces outgoing director of communications Brad Lavigne who moved over to the NDP party headquarters and holds the position of national director.Boychuk, before his 13-year stint at Canadian Geographic, had been a newspaper reporter with the Edmonton Journal and the Montreal Gazette.

Great choice by the NDP! Under Rick's direction Canadian Geographic has been nominated for more than 50 National Magazine Awards, was named Magazine of the Year by the National Magazine Awards Foundation and has been named Best Magazine of the Year three times by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors.
