Tablet usage is mushrooming and a third of users read magazines on them

The tablet marketplace is changing at warp speed and this is well illustrated by just-published data from the Online Publishers Association. While the data is exclusively U.S., it most likely is echoed in Canada.
The survey, conducted in collaboration with Frank Magid Associates, shows that the U.S. table-adopting population is 31% in 2012 and is expected to reach 47% by the second quarter of 2013. A summary of results were published by MediaPost. The majority of tablet users do so several times a day and say they use them 14 hours a week.
Of particular interest to readers of this blog, 31% of the users polled make regularly weekly use of the tablet to view magazine content. (53% said the preferred reading on tablets to reading magazines.)

"Content" and "Digital Magazine" are not the same thing. You can check out CanadianLiving.com without downloading a copy of their magazine from Zinio or iTunes.

I'm sorry if it appeared I suggested they were the same thing. The research is about "readers", who may or may not be subscribers or single copy buyers of print or digital editions.
